Dr. J Cody Nielsen Headshot
About the Founder

Dr. J. Cody Nielsen

Dr. J. Cody Nielsen (he/him/his) is an educator, consultant, and speaker who helps campuses and organizations navigate complexity with both clarity and care. As Executive Director of Convergence Strategies and Assistant Professor of Higher Education Leadership at Western Michigan University, he has worked with 200+ institutions across North America, guiding leaders, students, and communities through issues of belonging, identity, and organizational culture.

Dr. Cody Nielsen is a dynamic and inspiring speaker who brings passion and authenticity to every setting. He makes complex topics accessible and challenges audiences to think critically about their impact on the world. What makes Cody stand out is that he lives the values he teaches, motivating others to lead with purpose and become better educators, leaders, and human beings.

— Tomika L. Ferguson, Ph.D.Associate Dean for Student Affairs, Virginia Commonwealth University School of Education

Cody is a terrific speaker. He takes time to understand the audience he was speaking to and is dynamic and engaging both in-person and hybrid spaces. He challenges his audiences and addresses hard questions with real engagement. Cody is fearless and an authentic speaker who will leave audiences with lingering things to think about days after the event.

— Dawn Lee, PHDPartner/Lead Faculty, Evolve Your Leadership Voice

Having worked closely with Dr. Nielsen as a colleague and a coach, I am clear that he is a natural connector in a world that is often unintentionally and intentionally fractured. Not only does he provide a high level of expertise when it comes to religious plurality, privliege, and ecumenism at the intersections of multiple identities, but he simplifies the work. This simplicity makes the fractured, complicated, and ongoing work of connection easier. Research, theory, and practical application are to be expected regularly from Dr. Nielsen. He'll make your audiences uncomfortable in the most productive of ways, calling them to greater contemplative action.

— Dr. Shaunna Payne GoldEducator and Founder, Gold Enterprises

Cody is a rare find in this industry. His strong understanding of historical implications, both globally and nationally, along with his ability to facilitate engaging workshops was just the blend we needed to support our school community in navigating complex social issues that have significantly impacted our members. Dr. Nielsen was always accessible, and flexible in his approach to addressing our needs, ultimately helping more voices feel heard.
